Dr Kershaw's Hospice

Midnight Walk 2010

Saturday 5th / Sunday 6th June 2010

This is Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice’s third night time sponsored walk, with the aim of uniting women in support of the Hospice. 229 ladies took part in last years event and this year we are hoping for more than 500 walkers.

The Route

The 13.1 mile, fully marshalled,walk will commence from Oldham Athletic Training Ground on the stroke of midnight. The route takes walkers through Royton, Mills Hill Chadderton along Greengate to Hollinwood Avenue, onto Broadway, back to Mills Hill, Chadderton Hall Road returning to Broadway to Shaw Road end along Rochdale Road to Sheepfoot Lane and returning to the start point at Oldham Athletic Training Ground.

Entry Fee / Sponsorship

Entry fee is £15 and every walker will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a glow stick necklace to help light the way, a medal and refreshments (on return). All we ask in return is that you try your hardest to seek sponsorship in aid of Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice. With current running costs of the Hospice standing at £1.7m per year - that’s around £4650 per day - we are glad of every contribution made. It would be marvellous if this event could raise enough money to at least cover one week’s costs. Please do your very best to help us achieve this target.

To assist us with the operation of the event, we are also looking for men to get involved as stewards and volunteers – so if husbands, boyfriends, brothers or male relatives would like to help out, we would be delighted to hear from you too!

General Information

• Entries will be processed in the order that we receive them.
• One form must be completed for each person.
• Entries work on an individual basis but if you want to walk with friends the best way to make sure you all secure a place is to send your entries together. Please bear in mind that if an entry is incorrectly completed it will be returned and that place is not reserved.
• One cheque must be received with each entry. The entrant’s name must be written on the back of the cheque. An exception is made for companies with multiple staff entries where the company is paying for registration; this can be paid on one cheque but must be attached to all the forms it covers. Do not send cash in the post – please make all cheques payable to ‘Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice’.
• If you are unable to walk you must inform us as soon as possible and you must return your sponsor form even if it has no sponsorship entries. You must not ‘give’ your place to another person (however, it is possible for the place to be allocated to your contact via the Appeal Office).
• We do ask that you only register if you are committed. By taking a place and not walking deprives the Hospice of the sponsor money and a potential walker a place.
• The registration fee covers all expenses involved in administrating your place and is not refundable.
• The Midnight Walk is not a race. No walkers are allowed to run or jog and no walker must pass the nominated walk leaders.
• You are not permitted to use any sponsorship money you raise in relation to your entry in the Midnight Walk to pay for your expenses. All sponsor money must be passed to Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice.
